Mathilde MAURY SIMÉONI
OVERVIEW
MathildeMaury Siméoni
Born in 1997 in Perpignan, Mathilde Maury Siméoni is a multi-medium artist who graduated from the School of Beaux-Arts Paris (ENSBA) in 2023. She lives and works in the Canigó massif, a sacred mountain for the Catalans, which serves as the source of her inspiration, the materials of her creations, and her relationship with the world.
Her practice primarily combines large-format paintings of the places and landscapes of the forest where she resides, and sculptures made from raw materials such as stone, wood, wrought iron, and clay. In her immersive works, she shares her connection to nature, questioning the role of human beings within the living world, throughout history, with the aim of conveying keys to an alternative perspective. By integrating universal symbols and echoing the myths and remnants of ancient times that populate her region, she invites a free and individual narrative.
