Barberine AGIER
OVERVIEW
Barberine Agier is a ceramic artist and sculptor based in Lisbon. After twenty years working as a designer, imagining and creating beauty for others, she chose in 2025 to give shape to a world of her own. This decision grew out of several years of rigorous training and a deep desire to reconnect with the material itself.
In her work, she explores the plasticity of stoneware to its limits, seeking to imbue it with the delicacy and refinement usually associated with porcelain. Each piece is shaped without the use of a potter’s wheel, through a direct dialogue with the material in which gesture becomes essential.
Strength, patience, delicacy and creativity inform each of her creations. In her hands, the clay transforms, grows lighter and gradually reveals its own inherent power.
Each sculpture thus carries the memory of the earth, the energy of the elements and that sense of mystery inherent in every act of creation.
